Hi Yasmin. Well, if athesim does provide an answer to whether or not God exists, and who or what may or may not have created their existance, it is indeed providing answers to some... my opinion.

Hi Dave, atheism does not provide any answers to anything except the question: does god exist? According to what I've read during my debates with atheists, it is simply the lack of belief in God/Allah. Atheists can have a very wide range of beliefs Raelian atheists for example believe that we were created by aliens, they do not believe in god therefore they are atheist. Similarly many buddhist/hindu sects are atheist as well but they believe in the concept of karma and reincarnation. Atheism is not a belief system or religion in itself in fact it may even be a part of a religion.

Thanks for the article. Not being Jewish it makes me think it will one day be like many people wearing a cross, for fashion more than anything. I feel it is sad how symbols are made to be fashionable for fashions sake only. It denigrates the true meaning of the symbol.

Looks like St. Barbara was looking out for the miners in Chile. So happy that they made it out and are doing well.

Wow, that is a great article. I never knew the importance of the mezuzah. I am not a Jew, but I think that physical reminders of your faith have always been very inspiring. They help you remember, and we are forgetful people.

Thank you. I is however, permissible to wear one as cited here...

http://www.dailyhalacha.com/Display.asp?ClipDate=5/13/2007

"Chacham Ovadia Yoseph asks this question in Halichot Olam, Helek 8, page 216, and Rav Moshe Feinstein also asked this question in Igrot Moshe, Y"D, Helek Bet, Siman 141. They both came out saying that it is permissible to put a Mezuzah on a chain and wear it. Of course it should be contained within a case. Again, they rule it is permissible."

And from your website...

"Some people like to wear a mezuzah around the neck to show their Jewishness or as a charm, but the practice doesn't have any basis in Jewish religious sources. So naturally there aren't any rules about how do it."

While there is a Biblical requirement to affix a kosher mezuzah scroll (preferably housed in a case) to the doorposts of ones home, there is no such obligation to wear one around ones neck. Furthermore, wearing a decorative case arounds one neck is nothing more than wearing any other piece of jewelry as the case alone is meaningless. Now, if you are thinking of wearing one with a scroll, that is more problematic as the scroll would not be kosher so would be as meaningful as a bubblegum wrapper and it is fobidden to enter a bathroom or similar room with the scroll so practically a scroll should not be worn.

I also purchased a medal of St.George for my best friend that was being deployed for Iraq in June of last year. I had ordered it, and it was on backorder so I did not know if he would get it in time before he left. It was delivered on the day of his deployment, and I gave it to him before he went over seas. I have since received photos of him and wouldn't you know, he is still wearing the medal along with his dog tags. It makes me feel pretty special knowing that it was just a small spiritual token is a part of his everyday. He tells me that there are times that he misses home so much that he closes his eyes, holds on to the medal, and prays for a safe return home. I am blessed to be associated with such a brave individual.
